Our wood comes from forests that are maintained following a globally recognised gold-standard of sustainability. Forests that are so well-managed that they help to fight deforestation and protect wildlife habitats for the species that call them home.
Solid Rustic Timber
To make these painted farmhouse Thornley tv stands we select top quality, unsorted, kiln-dried pine and tulip wood.
The Thornley tv stand top and shelf are made from pine. Each top is first cut to size before being hand-sanded in our signature rustic style and then hand-waxed. This leaves in lots of natural timber characteristics and features. Mother Nature's own stamp of approval.
In this style you can expect to find splits, cracks, knots, shakes, waney edges, bows and twists, along with sanding marks in keeping with the rustic style. These are the qualities that set our furniture apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood every table will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind.
The wood we use for the painted sections of the Thornley collection is tulip wood. We chose to work with this timber because it's strong and naturally light in colour, making it a good base for us to hand-paint.
It's worth noting, that if you place any wooden furniture near a heat source it can cause movement within the timber.
Wax Finish
The Thornley tv stand top and shelf are made from our sustainably sourced pine timbers which are hand-sanded and then hand-waxed in our Rustic Pine finish.
We choose to work with wax as it enhances the look of the grains and features in the wood, bringing it to life.
The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail.
Earth-Friendly Paint
We’re proud to use Earthborn as the paint on our Thornley furniture collection. We chose to work with them on this collection because, quite frankly, we’re massive fans of what they do. Like us, Earthborn is a British company, and, also like us, they’re committed to creating products that are top quality and kind to the environment.
We’ve used Earthborn’s Eggshell No.17 in Wood Smoke on our Thornley furniture because its durable, washable and scuff-resistant. It’s also eco-friendly, with a water-based formula, and a beautiful silk sheen finish.
We've also used Earthborn on our Langley Oak collection of furniture - where you can choose between five different colours. Langley Oak is a collection of painted furniture for dining rooms. Do take a look if you'd consider having painted furniture in your dining room.

Some Minor Assembly Needed
These Thornley painted TV Stands are delivered by courier and require some minor assembly. They will come with detailed instructions and all the tools you need to complete the job. You will receive the two A frames for the ends and three pieces for the top, as well as the shelf. You use the provided screws to fix the A frames to the top. Then rest the shelf on the A frame.
Care & Clean
Despite being well protected, as with all natural wood furniture, we would strongly recommend that you protect it from heat and moisture, with the use of coasters, heat-protective mats, and other precautionary measures.
Daily care of your Funky Chunky Furniture piece is really simple. Watch our 30second video to find out more.
Your furniture will come with felt protectors, please use these on the bottom of your new furniture to protect your flooring. You will need to make sure that any hard flooring (which includes wood, laminate and vinyl flooring) is completely dry and free from chemical residues before putting your new furniture into place.
As this is a natural wood product with a wax finish on the table top any applied force, and friction, can cause the wax to transfer onto surfaces.
If wax transfer does occur we may be able to recommend products to help remove or reduce the appearance of the transfer.
However, we cannot be held responsible for any such incidents, or the use of any products we may suggest. Get in touch with our customer services team for advice.
Future Maintenance with Care Packs
We have care packs available to keep your Thornley furniture pieces looking their best. They are a great to use every few months to make your piece look brand new all the time. They're also brilliant for fixing damage.
To maintain and restore the Thornley table top you can use one of our wax care packs - just make sure to select the Rustic Pine colour option, as that's what your Thornley TV Stand is finished with.
To maintain and restore the painted finish to the Thornley tv stand's legs you will need one of our Thornley Maintenance Packs.
Both maintenance packs come with everything you need to maintain and repair those specific finishes, as well as instructions for use.

As these Thornley painted farmhouse tv stands are handmade to order we do require some time for manufacturing, This will normally take 3-4 weeks.
They will then be dispatched and will usually be delivered within 1-2 working days to UK mainland. (More remote UK areas and Northern Ireland could see an extra 1-2 days for delivery).
It is important to open your delivery as soon as it is received so that this can be checked over, and so that the wood can breathe.
Orders with multiple items will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. To receive your quicker lead time items without having to wait, just place separate orders.
