These beautiful oak floating shelves are handmade from solid air-dried oak timber and available in sets of 3, 4, or 5 shelves - perfect for adding storage space to an alcove or creating a focal point.
Choose from two fine wax finish colours, as well as an unwaxed option. You choose the shelf to suit you. Create your own Funky Chunky style!
These oak shelves can only be installed onto solid walls. All fixings are provided with pre-drilled holes in the back. And full fitting instructions for easy installation.

Funky Chunky Furniture’s shelves, mantels, and furniture are crafted from responsibly sourced wood. We work with suppliers who prioritise sustainable forestry, ensuring forests are well-managed to support biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and promote long-term regeneration.
Solid Oak Timber
These shelves and mantels are handcrafted from the very best quality solid oak timber. The timber is air-dried and will therefore continue to dry out as it settles into its new environment. You can expect some movement to occur during this time.
Each shelf is cut to size and finished in our workshop. This leaves in lots of natural, rustic timber characteristics and features. Mother Nature's own stamp of approval.
The oak timbers can have colour variations within the piece. These variations are more prominent on lighter wax finish choices, or the natural oak (unwaxed) option.
In this timber you can expect to find splits, cracks, knots, shakes, waney edges, bows, and twists along with sticker shadows and machine marks in keeping with the rustic style. These are the qualities that set our shelving apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood, every shelf will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind. Rustic timber.
You can expect to see some movement within the oak as it settles into its new environment. Please note that placing your item above or near a heat source can cause this movement to exaggerate the timber's natural features further, particularly splits, cracks and twists.

Fine Wax Finishes
To finish these chunky wood shelves, we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes.
Wax not only makes the timber look good, but it is also very durable. You can easily wipe away spillages. And cleaning is very simple. Just wipe with a clean cloth and warm water then leave to dry. But never use harsh chemical cleaners.
The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail. And as the wax soaks into the different grains and features it enhances their look and brings them to life. The colours are:

We also have our unwaxed option, ideal if you have your own finish to apply:
- Natural Oak
When viewing on-screen colours can look different from one screen to another. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples. You can order your samples here.
Future Maintenance with Wax Care Packs
We have wax care packs available to keep your shelves looking their best.
There also brilliant for fixing damage. A small amount of wax will fix a scratch. Order your wax care pack here.
Strong Fixings & Easy Installation
When you receive your oak floating shelves, the packaging will also include fixings. We provide you will fixings that have been designed specifically for the installation of our wooden shelves and mantels. We would recommend fixing it to solid wall types only. With the help of a professional joiner, or a skilled DIY enthusiast they can be fitted to timber frame walls as well. As this item is made from air-dried oak, it is not suitable for insetting into, or sealing onto the wall, doing so may cause the timber to move in an unnatural way. We are not able to guarantee the shelves if you do not use the fixings we supply, or if they are installed into alternative wall types or with alternative fitting methods.

Turnaround & Delivery
As these solid wood shelves are handmade we do require some time for manufacturing. This will normally take 3 to 5 working days. Please note that the lead time provided is an approximate guide, and your furniture may be completed slightly earlier or later than this date. If this would cause any issues, please let us know.
They will then be dispatched and will usually be delivered within 1-2 working days providing that there are no courier delays. It is important to open your delivery as soon as it is received so that this can be checked over, and so that the wood can breathe.
Orders with multiple items will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. To receive your quicker lead time items without having to wait, just place separate orders.
