Like all our furniture and shelves, these Armstrong Benches are handmade in our workshop in the North East of England. Made from the finest wood and carefully made by our craftsmen. The Armstrong bench is a solid wood seat supported by black metal legs. Choose from a selection of wax finishes for the solid wood bench top and two style of black metal legs to make a piece of furniture that's perfect for your home.
Handcrafted from chunky, solid wood, complete with a full variety of natural characteristics and features. Part of our Armstrong Collection of furniture, which celebrates the industrial heritage of Tyneside. Pair with our Armstrong Dining Table, Armstrong Sideboard and Armstrong Wine Rack for a complete look in your home.

Funky Chunky Furniture’s shelves, mantels, and furniture are crafted from responsibly sourced wood. We work with suppliers who prioritise sustainable forestry, ensuring forests are well-managed to support biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and promote long-term regeneration.
Solid Rustic Timber
To make these Armstrong Benches we select top quality, unsorted, kiln-dried pine. Each bench is cut to size and finished in our signature rustic style. This leaves in lots of natural timber characteristics and features. Mother Natures own stamp of approval.
In this style you can expect to find splits, cracks, knots, shakes, waney edges, bows and twists, along with machine marks in keeping with the rustic style. These are the qualities that set our furniture apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood every dining table will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind. Please note that placing your item near to a heat source can cause movement within the timber which may exaggerate these natural features.
4 Fine Wax Finish Colours
To finish these Armstrong benches we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes. The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail. And as the wax soaks into the different grains and features, it enhances their look and brings them to life. The available colours are:
- Walnut
- Teak
- Smoke Pine
- Medium Oak
When viewing on screen, colours can look different from one screen to another. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples. You can order your samples here.

Minor Assembly Needed
Our Armstrong Dining Benches are delivered 'nearly assembled' - the two metal legs aren't attached to the wooden bench top on delivery. Do not worry. The assembly is very quick and easy. Place the bench bottom side up. Position the legs in place and secure them to the bench with the fixings provided. Then, turn the Armstrong bench upright onto its legs, and position it where you like.

Future Maintenance with Wax Care Packs
We have wax care packs available to keep your furniture and shelves looking their best. They are a great to use every few months to make your piece look brand new all the time. They're also brilliant for fixing damage. Order your wax care pack here.
Turnaround & Delivery
As these solid wood benches are handmade we do require some time for manufacturing. This will normally take 1 week. They will then be dispatched on a next working day courier service to UK mainland. (More remote UK areas and Northern Ireland could see an extra 1-2 days for delivery). You can also find more details on our delivery process by visiting our Delivery page.
Orders with multiple items will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. To receive your quicker lead time items without having to wait, just place separate orders.
