These smooth wooden mantel beams have a square profile, and are handmade from the best quality solid pine timber.
They're finished in our contemporary smooth style that's available in 14 different lengths. Our wooden mantel comes with five fine wax finish options, s you choose the fireplace beam to suit your home.
All fixings are provided, with pre-drilled keyholes in the back. And full fitting instructions for easy installation.
These 4x4 smooth mantel beams are in our Outlet section, which is shelving from cancelled orders, where a customer has placed an order and then changed their mind about their finish colour, or even cancelled their order after we've already made them in the workshop.
This mantel beam is in perfect condition, it is not a “second” or damaged.
The only reason we’re selling them at a discount is that the mantel is currently taking up space in our storage area of the workshop – storage that we need for other orders that we are busy making. You benefit from buying our handmade mantel beam that’s already made and ready to be dispatched, at a discounted price. And we get some much needed space back in our workshop!
In most cases, there will be limited choice of lengths and wax finishes, depending on what we've got already made, and ready to go in the workshop.

Funky Chunky Furniture’s shelves, mantels, and furniture are crafted from responsibly sourced wood. We work with suppliers who prioritise sustainable forestry, ensuring forests are well-managed to support biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and promote long-term regeneration.
Solid Pine Timber
To make these smooth mantel beams we select top quality, unsorted, kiln-dried pine. Each shelf is cut to size and finished in our contemporary smooth style. Whilst this leaves a flatter and smoother surface, your shelf will still have plenty of natural timber characteristics and features. Mother Nature's own stamp of approval.
Despite the machining process to make the timber smooth and flat, being a natural product, solid wood can contain a variety of different features and characteristics. In the Smooth range these features are less prominent than in our Rustic range but can still include waney edges, knots, splits, cracks and shakes, and some sanding marks. These are the qualities that set our shelving apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood every shelf will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind. Please note that placing your item above or near to a heat source can cause movement within the timber which may cause the timber to twist or bow.
All sizes and weights given are approximate. As we only use natural, solid timber, measurements can change slightly from one piece to another.
5 Fine Wax Finish Colours
To finish these chunky wood mantel beams we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes. The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail. And as the wax soaks into the different grains and features it enhances their look and brings them to life. The colours are:
- Walnut
- Teak
- Smoke Pine
- Medium Oak
- Rustic Pine
When viewing on screen colours can look different from one screen to another. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples.

Strong Fixings & Easy Installation
When you receive your mantel beam, the packaging will also include fixings. We provide you with fixings that have been designed specifically for the installation of our wooden shelves and mantels. We would recommend fixing it to solid wall types only. The keyhole brackets are suitable for all wall types, however we supply the bolts suitable for solid walls only. We would always recommend consulting with a DIY professional or builder before purchasing to discuss fitting to alternative wall types, as this may require specialist fixings.We are not able to guarantee the shelves if you do not use the fixings we supply, if they are installed using alternative fitting methods, or if they are installed into alternative wall types.

Turnaround & Delivery
As these solid wood mantel beams are handmade we do require some time for manufacturing. This will normally take 3 to 5 working days. They will then be dispatched and will usually be delivered within 1-2 working days providing that there are no courier delays. It is important to open your delivery as soon as it is received so that this can be checked over, and so that the wood can breathe.
Orders with multiple items will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. To receive your quicker lead time items without having to wait, just place separate orders.
