Funky Chunky Furniture’s shelves, mantels, and furniture are crafted from responsibly sourced wood. We work with suppliers who prioritise sustainable forestry, ensuring forests are well-managed to support biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and promote long-term regeneration.

Solid Rustic Timber

To make these wooden headboards we select top quality, unsorted, kiln-dried pine. This leaves in lots of natural timber characteristics and features. Mother Nature's own stamp of approval.

In this style you can expect to find splits, cracks, knots, shakes, waney edges, bows and twists, along with machine marks in keeping with the rustic style. These are the qualities that set our furniture apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood every bed frame will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind. Please note that further movement may occur within the timber, particularly if the item is placed near to a heat source, which may exaggerate these natural features.

2 Fine Wax Finish Colours

To finish the Bolam Headboard we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes. The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail. And as the wax soaks into the different grains and features, it enhances their look and brings them to life. The available colours are:

2 Fabric Colours

To finish the Bolam Headboard, we upholster it in your choice of premium fabric. Expertly crafted for a flawless, tailored look, the fabric adds softness, texture, and character. The available colours are:

• Stone
• Mink

When viewing on screen, colours can look different from one screen to another. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples. You can order your samples here.

Quick & Easy Assembly

Assembling the Bolam Headboard takes no time at all and is a very simple process. 

Option one: Mount to the Wall

• Decide the height you’d like your headboard.
• Attach the included French cleats to the wall using the provided screws and plugs.
• Simply lift the headboard and hook it onto the wall cleats until it locks securely.

Option two: Attach to our Bed Frames

• Hold the French cleats against your bed frame to find the height you like.
• You can set the headboard higher or lower to suit your mattress and style.
• Lift the headboard and line up the cleats on the back with the cleats on the frame.
• Screw the cleats firmly to the frame. Make sure they’re straight and tight.
• Check the headboard is level and secure.

As this is a natural wood product with a wax finish any applied force, and friction, can cause the wax to transfer onto surfaces.

If wax transfer does occur we may be able to recommend products to help remove or reduce the appearance of the transfer.

However, we cannot be held responsible for any such incidents, or the use of any products we may suggest. Get in touch with our customer services team for advice.

Care Instructions for Your Upholstered Headboard

These fabrics are suitable for in-situ dry cleaning by a professional cleaner experienced with upholstery.

General Care

Upholstered pile fabrics may show shading or creasing from everyday use. This is a natural effect caused by changes in light reflection when the pile is pressed. It is not a fault and will not affect durability.

Avoid placing your headboard or upholstered furniture in direct sunlight for long periods, as this can cause fading.

Light-coloured fabrics may be prone to dye transfer from non–colourfast clothing or materials.

Synthetic fibres are strong and durable, though in rare cases they may produce a slight noise when in use. This does not affect performance.

Aftercare

Do not apply additional chemical treatments or fabric protectors, as these may reduce the fabric’s performance.

We have wax care packs available to keep your furniture and shelves looking their best. They are a great to use every few months to make your piece look brand new all the time.

Turnaround & Delivery

As these solid wood bed frames are handmade we do require some time for manufacturing. Please note that the lead time provided is an approximate guide, and your furniture may be completed slightly earlier or later than this date. If this would cause any issues, please let us know.

Orders with multiple items will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. To receive your quicker lead time items without having to wait, just place separate orders.

Once the order is complete, you will receive a dispatch email. Delivery will be made by our partner Logistics North East and will arrive on the 2nd working day following dispatch. On the morning of delivery, you’ll also get an email/ SMS with a 2-hour time slot. (Please allow an additional 2-5 working days for deliveries to Highlands and Islands).

The delivery will be a roadside pallet delivery, so we recommend that two strong people are available to carry the item into the home. For queries about the pallet delivery service, please contact us at info@funky-chunky-furniture.co.uk.

It is important to open your delivery as soon as it is received so that this can be checked over, and so that the wood can breathe.
