Funky Chunky Furniture’s shelves, mantels, and furniture are crafted from responsibly sourced wood. We work with suppliers who prioritise sustainable forestry, ensuring forests are well-managed to support biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and promote long-term regeneration.

Solid Pine Shelves

Funky Chunky Furniture creates the finest handmade solid wood shelves.

To make these rustic shelves we select top-quality, kiln-dried pine. Each shelf is cut to size and finished in our signature rustic style. This leaves in lots of natural timber characteristics and features. Mother Natures own stamp of approval.

In this style you can expect to find splits, cracks, knots, shakes, waney edges and twists, along with machine marks in keeping with the rustic style. These are the qualities that set our shelving apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood, every shelf will be different. Truly unique and one of a kind. Please note, placing your shelf above a heat source can cause movement within the timber which may exaggerate these natural features.

Fine Wax Finishes

To finish these chunky wood shelves, we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes, which is professionally applied in our workshop.

As the wax soaks into the different grains and features it enhances their look and brings it to life. Wax not only makes the timber look good, but it is also very durable. You can easily wipe away spillages. And cleaning is very simple. Just wipe with a clean cloth and warm water then leave to dry. But never use harsh chemical cleaners.

The colours are:

• Smoke Pine
• Medium Oak

When viewing on screen colours can look different from one screen to another. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples. You can order your samples here.

Strong Fixings & Easy Installation

When you receive your mantel beam, the packaging will also include fixings. We provide you with fixings that have been designed specifically for the installation of our wooden shelves and mantels into solid walls only. We would recommend fixing it to solid wall types only. The keyhole brackets are suitable for all wall types however we would always recommend consulting with a DIY professional or builder before purchasing to discuss fitting to alternative wall types, as this may require specialist fixings. We are not able to guarantee the mantel if you do not use the fixings we supply, if they are installed using alternative fitting methods, or if they are installed into alternative wall types.

Turnaround & Delivery

As these solid wood shelves are handmade we do require some time for manufacturing. Please note that the lead time provided is an approximate guide, and your furniture may be completed slightly earlier or later than this date. If this would cause any issues, please let us know.

They will then be dispatched and will usually be delivered within 1-2 working days providing that there are no courier delays. It is important to open your delivery as soon as it is received so that this can be checked over, and so that the wood can breathe.

Orders with multiple items will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. To receive your quicker lead time items without having to wait, just place separate orders.
