How tall should a dining table be?

• The standard height of a dining table is typically 28 to 30 inches (71 to 76 cm) tall. This is the sweet spot for pairing with most dining chairs, which usually have a seat height of 17-19 inches. A general rule of thumb is to leave about 10–12 inches (25–30 cm) of clearance between the tabletop and the top of the chair seat, so there's room for you to comfortably pull in your chair and there's room for everyone's legs!
• But height isn't just a measurement,  it's worth thinking about how you'll use the space. Is this a casual breakfast bar or a traditional sit-down dining table? Do you want the room to feel relaxed and informal, or bold and statement-making? Even subtle differences in height can shift the mood of a room. Tables at the lower end of the height range tend to feel more relaxed and grounded, while taller tables make more of a statement and draw the eye. 
  

How wide are dining room tables?

• The standard width of a dining table typically ranges from 28 inches (71 cm) to 44  inches (112 cm) or more, depending on shape and seating needs. Generally, the more seats you need, the wider the table and round or square tables tend to run wider than rectangular ones of the same seat capacity.
• Width matters for more than just seating. It's what gives you room for serving dishes, centrepieces, and all your goodies when it's time for a proper feast. Our top tip when considering width: measure your room size and leave at least 3 feet (36 in / 91cm) of clearance around your dining table so it doesn't overpower your room.

A 4-seater dining table typically ranges from 120-150cm (47-59 in) in length for rectangular tables, 90-110cm (35-43 in) per side for square tables, and 90-112cm (35-44 in) in diameter for round tables.

6 Seater Dining Tables

A standard 6-seater dining table is typically around 152–198cm (60–78 in) long for rectangular tables, with round tables around 137–152cm (54–60 in) in diameter.
A great size for dining rooms, and enough space to squeeze in extra chairs when needed, without taking over the room for the rest of the year. 

8+ Seater Dining Tables 

An 8-seater dining table typically ranges from 198–244cm (78–96 in) in length, with 244cm (96 in) ideal for the most comfortable seating.
