With a few straightforward instructions, you'll have your wooden bed frame and headboard assembled. You can create the bed of your dreams in no time.

You have the choice to attach your headboard either to the wall or directly to your wooden bed frame. In this guide, we'll explore the benefits of each approach and go through step-by-step how to do it. Before getting started, think about which method will suit you and your bedroom.

Mounting a Headboard to the Wall

Wall mounting a headboard is an easy way to create a more refined, solid feel in your bedroom. It adds stability and makes better use of space as your bed frame can sit flush against the wall. However, if you ever need to move your bed, it can become more of a hassle.

How to fit your headboard to your wall:

  1. Decide on your ideal headboard height: typically allowing a 35-70cm overhang above the mattress to balance aesthetics and comfort. Here it's a good idea to lightly pencil where the fixings will go and double-check everything will be level.
  2. Secure your wall fixings: Use the included French cleats to the wall using the provided screws and plugs. Please note that these fixings are suitable for solid walls only. If you're mounting to a partition or plasterboard wall, appropriate fixings will be required.
  3. Mount the headboard: Simply lift the headboard and hook it onto the wall-mounted cleats until it locks firmly into place.
  4. Finishing Touches: Finally, push your bed back against the wall and you're all set.

Attaching a Headboard to a Wooden Bed Frame

Fixing your headboard to your wooden bed frame keeps things simple. There's no need to drill holes in the wall, it's easy to adjust height in the future, and the headboard comes with you whenever you want to move the bed.

How to fit your headboard to your bed frame:

  1. Decide on your preferred height: hold the French cleats against the bed frame until you find the position you like. You can set the headboard higher or lower to suit your mattress, style, and room.
  2. Screw headboard fixings into place: Lift the headboard and align the cleats on the back with those on the frame, then screw the cleats securely into place, making sure they're straight and tight.
  3. Check the headboard is fitted firmly: Make sure it is level and straight and then enjoy your lovely upgraded bed.

Headboard Attachment Types

All our headboards can be fitted both to your wall and our bare bed frames. Make sure to check your fixings first and work out whether your attachment wall is solid or plasterboard. Wall types have varying strengths, fixings for solid walls are included with your headboard but plasterboard walls require different support and fixings.
